About Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering Department
- NameDr. Daniel Elizabath Rani, Ph.D.
The department of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering was established in the year 1995. It offers 4 year B.Tech. Under-Graduate Programme, 2 year M.Tech Post-Graduate Programme in Electronic Instrumentation, 2 year M.Tech Post-Graduate Programme Embedded Systems and Ph.D programme in collaboration with the department of ECE.
The under graduate programme offers students with solid theoretical & practical exposure to operation and design of electronic instruments, digital logic systems, and computer based automatic process control. Advanced courses like Robotics, Biomedical Engineering, Advanced Sensors, Virtual Instrumentation, Fiber Optic Instrumentation, are being offered as electives. Students learn computer aided applications in instrumentation, process control system design, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Virtual instrumentation which gives them an edge over others in employment. Choice based credit system has been introduced in the academic year 2015 to give more flexibility to students and to mould their carriers in their interested areas.
Communication skills and personality development courses through expert lectures improve the communication skills and overall personality of the student. The department monitors the student's progress regularly and provides necessary counseling at various levels towards achieving better results. The students are encouraged to take active part in cultural programmes, technical events, seminars, workshops and sports.
Faculty members of the department are actively involved in research work in the areas of signal processing, Control Systems and MEMS. The department has infrastructure and facilities to carry out research activities. The faculty members contribute research papers to reputed journals like IEEE sensors, SCI indexed journals and conferences. The department organizes national conferences, workshops, student conferences and guest lectures. The faculty involves in funded research projects and offered consultancy projects to NSTL, HPCL and VRDE.
Faculty serve as Board of Studies members in other institutions, active members in professional societies like ISOI, ISSS and reviewer for the IEEE sensor journal. They are also invited as resource persons in various workshops / conferences. The department offered training to the employees of Dr.Reddy’s lab as a part of their Diploma Certificate programme. Faculty members frequently visit other institutions/research organizations like IISc Bangalore, IIT Mumbai and semiconductor lab ISRO to strengthen their research activities.
